I wanted to take some time to talk about one of the most important first steps in designing: choosing a color.
A few weeks ago when I was at Ivanka’s wedding, I was surveying the room. Everyone was dressed in gorgeous gowns and suits and there was a sea of colors all around the room. But one stood out. The stunning Melania Trump was dressed in a deep purple gown that instantly drew my eye. It was so beautiful that it completely inspired my whole Thanksgiving table. Yes, the color scheme for this year’s holiday will be a magnificent, vibrant purple.
One wonderful thing about this color scheme is the complementary accents that can be used to enhance this hue. I’m thinking gold will do the trick. What do you think? What’s your favorite color?
Update: We received requests for pictures of Melania's dress, so here it is. Enjoy! Photo credit: Brain Marcus

I love it, I would love to see pictures of you wonderful creation.
ReplyDeleteI've really been drawn to deep purple lately too. Similar to some of the colors in the Bradford Pear tree, it's so rich and elegant, but it can be at home in more casual settings too.
ReplyDeleteI think gold or bronze would be lovely with it.
I've heard a lot about purple as the "in" color this fall. Gold would be perfect with a deep purple. I wish you had a picture of Melania's dress in this post.
ReplyDeleteI love silver but I think silver goes better with a deep red instead.
My favorite color changes but for the past two years, a deep purple, like an eggplant, has been my favorite. And it's my company color. I generally like fall colors also - reds, oranges and golds.
ReplyDeleteI'm find of deep purple and for holiday decor use it's stunning with winter white also. Inspiration come from many things and it's so fun to catch it when you can anytime and any place.
ReplyDeleteCould you do the purple w/ gold and use touches of silver for a little gleam?
ReplyDeleteI love this purple as well. And I'm really loving the combination of deep purple with chartreuse and silver.
ReplyDeleteI have always been a purple fan. Aubergine, plum, blackberry, lavender. I find a lot of people are shy about purple but I'm so constantly drawn to it that I have to make an effort to mix things up.
